First batch of seeds went in pots on April 6 this year. All were up on April 10 and this pic was taken April 12.
1306Jutras, 947*Cuypers and 905Preiss.
Plan is to cross 947 with the 905 and breed a squash seed with 1068Wallace and 1231Pukos in the genes.

When seedlings are 4 days old and first real leaf shows up seedlings go in the patch. Here's the 1306Jutras on April 14

On April 13 i filed the edges of two of each 1207Young, 650Olsen and 1344Berrens seeds, and soaked them in water overnight. Pots went in germinator to preheat the potting soil. April 14 in the morning seeds went in pots.
Today on April 17 the two 1344 seeds, one of the 650's and one of the 1207's broke soil. Temp in germination chamber was 30°C.

1207Young,1344Berrens(2), and 650Olsen seeds went in pot on april 14. They emerged April 17 or 18 and were transplanted today april 20.

1306Jutras 4 weeks in patch now. Bamboosticks task is to prevent main from snapping off. From now on i will have to move them each morning and/or evening. All tendrills are cut away and i use an umbrella to shade main vine growing tip.

1306Jutras plant is 5 weeks old now. Today i burried some sidevines . First ones of the season.

Plant in the back is 947*Cuypers.
Main vine is about 3,5 meters long now and there's a female showing up in the tip. Longest sidevines are about 2 meters long.
Burying vines 2 to 3 times a week now.

7 weeks old now. first 2 or 3 sidevines each side reached the edge of the tunnel and i pinched the growing tips out.

I've a question to the last picture with the two parasols.
I thought parasols are used to protect the pumpkin from the sun but you've two parasol and no pumpkin fruit is visible on the picture.

Two parasols to shade the growing tip of the main vines od the two plants. If main vine tip burns you're done for the season.I have to move them each day as the main progresses and i place them this way the tip gets shade from 11am till 4pm.

1306Jutras plant is 8 weeks old now. Within 2 weeks plants will have filled up the greenhouse and the vineburrying job will be over.
I have a 5 days old fruit on it at 17ft out and another one coming at 23ft. out.

I use plywood to put under the fruit, so driphoses can run under the fruit to the rest of the plant.

To shade the fruit i just use a towel or an old T-shirt. As the fruit gets bigger(hopefully) it will be replaced by a whitesheet.

1306Jutras plant is 10 weeks old now and the main vine tip has reached the edge of the greenhouse. I will bend it away and treat it like a secondary from this point on.
